The Hon. Rita J. Miller served as judge on the Los Angeles County Superior Court in CA. Former Gov. Gray Davis appointed her to the bench and 2000. On September 11, 2018, Miller retired from the bench. Her vacancy was filled by the Hon. Daniel M. Crowley.

Rita Miller, Judge (Retired) obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Connecticut College for Women. She also finished special studies at Harvard University. From there, she attended Loyola Long School, graduating with a J.D. and first in her class in 1979. While attending Loyola Law School, she wrote for the Law Review.

Subsequent to her graduation from law school, Judge Miller worked as an associate at the law firm Munger, Tolles, and Olson. There, she worked on legal malpractice cases. She was named a partner at the firm in 1985 and stayed with the firm for 21 years prior to her appointment to the Superior Court in 2000. She also worked as a hearing examiner with the Los Angeles Police Commission and as special counsel for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department while working at Munger, Tolles, and Olson.

While serving on the Superior Court, Ms. Miller served for the California Court of Appeal, 2nd District as judge pro tem. She was under consideration for permanent appointment to the Court of Appeals in 2015. However, she chose instead to continue serving on the Superior Court until she retired.

In 2011, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles recognized Rita J. Miller as the Alford J. McCourtney Trial Judge of the Year.

Rita Miller, Judge joined ADR Services, Inc. as a neutral after her retirement from the bench. She has lectured and served as an instructor extensively and has written a number of articles for the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles.
